3rd Annual Punkin’ Chunkin’
Oct

3rd Annual Punkin’ Chunkin’

“Hear ye, hear ye! Let it be proclaimed across valley, village, and distant hillside that upon the twenty-fifth day of the Tenth Moon, in the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty-Five, the grounds of Wayward Lane shall once more tremble beneath the might of flying gourds, for the Third Annual Pumpkin Chunkin’ shall commence!

Presiding over this most sacred artillery of autumn is none other than Erik — Lord of the Launch, Keeper of the Counterweight, and First Chair of the Order of Trajectory, whose trebuchet has been reforged with even greater recklessness and ambition. At the striking of the Second Bell (known in common tongue as 2 PM), he shall awaken the great engine of hurling, and pumpkins shall be sent skyward in feats of such majesty that even the crows shall scatter in awe. Those who seek glory must arrive early to inscribe their names upon the Ledger of Launching, for once the pumpkins are spent, so too is thy chance at immortality!

Let it also be known that sustenance for warriors and spectators alike shall be provided by The Dumpling Wagon, henceforth honored as The Dumpling Cart of Endless Steam, and by Down N’ Dirty Burgers, duly decreed The House of Ground Beef & Smoked Glory, that no soul may faint for lack of dumpling or patty whilst chaos unfolds.

In tandem with these noble trials of distance and destruction shall run The Great Contest of Altered Appearance, wherein citizens of all ranks are commanded to disguise themselves in garments of terror, trickery, or utter confusion. From these costumed combatants, champions shall be chosen and awarded spoils befitting their audacity. Prizes shall be bestowed for both Finest Disguise and Furthest Launched Pumpkin, for strength of arm and strength of imagination are held equal in this realm.

Thus is it spoken. Thus must it occur. Let the pumpkins fly and the people bear witness. 🎺🎃

Guiding the workshop is award-winning artist and educator Mallory Zondag, whose internationally exhibited work explores the natural world through felting, weaving, and sculptural techniques. Wayward Lane Oktoberfest

Wayward Lane Oktoberfest

Break out the dirndls, lederhosen, and raise a stein—Wayward Lane’s Oktoberfest is back!
This year we’re extra excited to debut our first-ever Oktoberfest stein!

Join us for a festive day of beer, Bavarian eats, and games as we celebrate all things gemütlich.

We’re thrilled to welcome back two of your favorite Oktoberfest lagers on tap all day:

  • Zeltgeist (5.5% ABV) – A tentbier-inspired lager, step mashed and decocted with Weyermann Isaria 1924 Heirloom malt. Layered with Mittelfrueh and Tettnang hops in the kettle and a touch of Indie Hops Loríen in the dry hop, delivering bright notes of citrus, honeydew, and wildflowers. Clean, crisp, endlessly drinkable—the ultimate tent crusher.

  • Luftschloss (5.8% ABV) – Our Märzen-style lager employs an extensive step mash and single decoction, creating the perfect balance between toasty German Munich malt, noble hop aromatics from Seitz Farm Hersbrucker, and a delicate kiss of our estate honey for just the right touch of richness and drinkability.

Alongside the beer, VonSalad’s Wurst & Schnitzel Circus will be serving up authentic German fare—crispy schnitzel with sauerkraut and jaegersosse, bratwursts with mustard, golden potato pancakes with apple compote, and soft pretzels hot from the oven.

And of course, Oktoberfest wouldn’t be complete without our beloved games lineup:

  • Steinholding 🍺 – test your strength and endurance in this Bavarian classic.

  • Hammerschlagen 🔨 – swing the hammer and see if you can drive the nail home.

  • Dirndl & Lederhosen Contest 🎉 – show off your festival style for crowd-judged bragging rights (and maybe a dance-off if there’s a tie).

Games kick off at 4:30 PM, so be sure to arrive ready for the fun!

Mark your calendars. Prost! 🍻
