We are fired up to welcome back Gumbo de Ma Mère for their second visit to Wayward Lane. This New Orleans family pop up is now putting down roots in Middleburgh and bringing authentic Creole cooking to the valley.
Gumbo de Ma Mère serves food that feels like home. Soulful, slow cooked, and filled with warmth and love. There is a story in every pot.
They will be serving their signature gumbo, red beans and rice for a vegetarian option, and crawfish etouffee for the seafood lovers. It is the kind of food that hits on a winter afternoon and pairs perfectly with a pint.

Live Music: What?
Funk-fueled and horn-led, What? is a six-piece powerhouse from the Hudson Valley that blends funk, jazz fusion, and jam into a high-energy, danceable mix. Think Stevie Wonder meets Snarky Puppy with a side of Catskills soul.
Come ready to move.
4th Annual Christmas Tree Blaze
It’s that time of year again.
Our field of fallen Christmas trees is growing by the day and we’re getting ready to send them out in a blaze of glory. Join us Saturday, January 10 for the 4th Annual Christmas Tree Blaze, which is somehow both our most chaotic and most wholesome event of the year.
🎶 Before we set anything on fire, What? will be taking over The Metal Shed from 3 to 6 with a heavy dose of funk, horns, and enough groove to keep you warm before the inferno even starts. If you’ve never heard a six piece band ask “What?” while answering with Stevie Wonder level energy, you’re in for it.
🔥 Tree lighting starts around 6, when we’ll roll out a couple special beer options made just for the night. More on that soon. We like to keep at least some mystery before lighting dozens of trees on fire.
🌲 Got a tree to retire? Drop it off curbside anytime leading up to the event. We promise to give it the dramatic send off it deserves. One minute it’s a drying piece of holiday decor. The next it’s whoooosh.
🥟 The Dumpling Wagon will be here all day keeping everyone fed, warm, and slightly less flammable.
Start the new year the Wayward way. One big fire, great beer, loud horns, and a field full of neighbors cheering on burning trees. Who’s ready to blaze it up?
The Perfect Pair Series: A Gumbo de Ma Mère & Beer Pairing
The Perfect Pair Series brings together Wayward Lane beer and the craft of local producers we love. Each month features a new partner and a curated tasting designed to highlight their creations alongside ours.
This round of the series features Gumbo de Ma Mère, the Middleburgh pop-up serving authentic Creole comfort built on family recipes and deep Louisiana roots. Their food is soulful, slow-cooked, and full of that warm, layered flavor that makes you stop mid-bite and smile. It is the kind of cooking meant to be shared, passed around, and talked about.
For this event, we’re working with Gumbo de Ma Mère to create a small tasting menu inspired by their New Orleans heritage. We’ll pair several of their dishes with Wayward Lane beers chosen to lift up the spices, richness, and soul of their cooking. The exact menu will be announced soon.
The format stays true to The Perfect Pair Series:
a curated lineup of small pours and small plates designed to be enjoyed together.
More details and the full pairing menu coming soon.
The Perfect Pair Series continues each month with a new collaboration, new flavors, and a new way to experience Wayward Lane beer.
Live Music: The Red Wagon
The Red Wagon can best be described as Rootsy Rock Fusion, melding together various styles of music into an amalgamation of sound. Intertwining Saxophone and Electric Guitar float over a solid, yet fluid, rhythm section, while harmony-laden vocals ring out above the fray. The Red Wagon’s current lineup consists of Dan McBride (Guitar), Chris Scanlan (Sax and Vocals), John Florussen (Drums and Vocals) and Dave Jenkins (Bass and Vocals). Their latest album, Back To The Valley, was released on July 4, 2020 - and is available for streaming or purchase on all major digital media outlets including Spotify, Amazon Music, iTunes and Youtube.
Offsite Event: Albany Brewers Festival
The 11th Annual New York State Craft Brewers Festival is happening Saturday, January 24 at the Desmond Hotel in Albany. This is one of the best beer events in the state, bringing together more than fifty breweries from every corner of New York. It is a rare chance to try unique and award winning beers, discover new styles, and talk directly with the people who make them. All beer is poured by brewery owners and staff. No volunteers.
Great beer needs great food. Some of Albany’s favorite food vendors will be set up with plenty of options to keep you going.
VIP tickets are back and always sell out. VIP gets you in an hour early from 4 to 8 plus access to a select beer and cheese pairing from 3 to 4. This tasting features five special beers from five different regions along with notes from the brewers and five cheeses from The Cheese Traveler. These beers are only available at the tasting and not on the festival floor. Only one hundred spots are available.
After more than a decade of events, the New York State Craft Brewers Festivals are known for putting on a real craft beer experience that highlights the best of what New York has to offer.
See you there. Cheers.

With a mix of award-nominated originals and a diverse selection of covers, Gordon St. has a little something for everyone—gorgeous three-part harmonies for ya mom, and instrumental dance jams... also for ya mom. 😘

Perfect Pair Series : A Sleepy Forest Doughnut & Beer Pairing
The Perfect Pair Series brings together Wayward Lane beer and the craft of local producers we love. Each month features a new partner and a curated tasting designed to highlight their creations alongside ours.
This month we’re teaming up with Sleepy Forest Bakeshop for the third time, and for good reason. Their pastries have that handmade, nostalgic feel while still being creative and deeply flavorful. Soft textures, balanced sweetness, and a little bit of magic in every bite.
We’re building this tasting around six of their mini doughnuts, each paired with a four or eight ounce pour of Wayward Lane beer chosen to complement the flavors and textures of the bake.
The format is simple:
six mini doughnuts, six small beers, one delicious experience.
We’ll share the full pairing menu when we get closer to the event.
The Perfect Pair Series continues each month with a new collaboration, new flavors, and a new way to experience Wayward Lane beer.

Live Music: The 209's
The 209s are a five-piece Funk, Soul and R&B band from the heart of the Hudson Valley, NY. Rooted in powerful vocals with rich harmonies and accompanied by organ, guitar, bass, and drums–The 209s have a repertoire of unique originals blended with soulful renditions of well-loved classics, mostly from the 60s and 70s. Bonded in friendship, the 209s come together to share the fruit of their community-minded music-making.
Live Music: The Outcrops
From the woods of northern New Jersey comes a band that feels like it was built for a place like ours. The Outcrops play blues soaked rock and soul with the kind of raw honesty that grabs you fast and hangs on. Led by vocalist and guitarist Cassidy Rain, whose voice lives somewhere between Bonnie Raitt warmth and Howlin Wolf grit, the band moves with a feeling that’s both tight and loose at the same time.
Her back and forth with lead guitarist Bryan Schroeder is where the magic starts. His lines float, bend, and weave in a way fans compare to Derek Trucks or Jerry Garcia, never overplayed, always exactly what the song needs. Underneath it all, the rhythm section locks into deep pocket grooves that bring funk, soul, and American roots together into something that feels familiar but entirely their own.
They’ve racked up serious accolades along the way, from winning the North Jersey Blues Challenge to being named NJ Band of the Year, and they’ve shared the stage with everyone from The Outlaws and Three Dog Night to some of the region’s best roots players. But what makes them special is the energy they bring in a live setting. It’s warm, gritty, melodic, and full of life.
If you’re into blues, soul, rock and roll, or anything with real feel behind it, this is the show.

Dove + Deer sits inside a restored 1854 brownstone in one of Albany’s oldest neighborhoods. The space is cozy, historic, and laid-back, with an elevated pub atmosphere that makes it a perfect setting for good beer and good music.

3rd Annual Punkin’ Chunkin’
“Hear ye, hear ye! Let it be proclaimed across valley, village, and distant hillside that upon the twenty-fifth day of the Tenth Moon, in the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty-Five, the grounds of Wayward Lane shall once more tremble beneath the might of flying gourds, for the Third Annual Pumpkin Chunkin’ shall commence!
Presiding over this most sacred artillery of autumn is none other than Erik — Lord of the Launch, Keeper of the Counterweight, and First Chair of the Order of Trajectory, whose trebuchet has been reforged with even greater recklessness and ambition. At the striking of the Second Bell (known in common tongue as 2 PM), he shall awaken the great engine of hurling, and pumpkins shall be sent skyward in feats of such majesty that even the crows shall scatter in awe. Those who seek glory must arrive early to inscribe their names upon the Ledger of Launching, for once the pumpkins are spent, so too is thy chance at immortality!
Let it also be known that sustenance for warriors and spectators alike shall be provided by The Dumpling Wagon, henceforth honored as The Dumpling Cart of Endless Steam, and by Down N’ Dirty Burgers, duly decreed The House of Ground Beef & Smoked Glory, that no soul may faint for lack of dumpling or patty whilst chaos unfolds.
In tandem with these noble trials of distance and destruction shall run The Great Contest of Altered Appearance, wherein citizens of all ranks are commanded to disguise themselves in garments of terror, trickery, or utter confusion. From these costumed combatants, champions shall be chosen and awarded spoils befitting their audacity. Prizes shall be bestowed for both Finest Disguise and Furthest Launched Pumpkin, for strength of arm and strength of imagination are held equal in this realm.
Thus is it spoken. Thus must it occur. Let the pumpkins fly and the people bear witness.” 🎺🎃
