Whole Hog Pig Roast with Meadow Rise Farm
Sunday May 24th | Brewery opens at noon | Food service begins 12:30-1:30pm
For the second day of our anniversary weekend, weâre hosting our first whole hog pig roast at Wayward Lane.
Weâve been working with a new spent grain partner, Evan of Meadow Rise Farm in Knox, NY, and this felt like the right way to celebrate that new relationship. Meadow Rise is a family farm that raises pigs using a pasture-based, holistic approach, with spent grain from our brewery helping feed the animals, making this a true farm and brewery collaboration brought full circle.
For this one, Evan will be roasting an 180 lb hog in a traditional cinder block pit built onsite, with the fire lit and the cook beginning the day before. The hog will roast low and slow for 15-20 hours over live coals before being pulled from the pit Sunday morning and rested ahead of service.
If youâre joining us for day one of the anniversary celebration, youâll be able to catch the pit being built, the fire going, and the roast getting underway as part of the weekend.
Food service begins Sunday around 12:30-1:30pm, when the whole hog feast will be served. Gumbo de Ma Mére will be handling the rest of the spread alongside Meadow Rise's whole hog, putting together a proper plate for the occasion.
A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit SMART Peer Services, a local organization focused on peer support and strengthening community connections. Good food for a good cause.
